The Beginning

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”—Revelation 1:8 NASB

The beginning of a new year presents an opportunity to ponder our lives—to reflect on the past, think about the future, and seek God. Looking back, we should realize He was with us every step of the way. He was there even in the darkest nights when we did not appear to have any hope and when we felt lost and alone and needed direction.

As we look ahead, we do not know what will happen in the year to come. But the Bible reminds us that God will be with us through every situation. We can trust in Him.

One important way to stay confident and victorious is to focus on Him. We need to be people of prayer and commit to drawing closer to Him. Continually fill your minds and hearts with His Word. Daily stand on His promises. Follow the leading of His Spirit.

Remember, He is both the beginning and the end. He was with us in the past and will be with us in the future. More than that, He already is in the end of every situation. He is not worried, and we have no reason to be anxious.

Use the beginning of this year as an opportunity to focus on Him. Commit the future to Him—every issue, every challenge, every problem. Renew your trust in Him. Begin this year with Him.

Reflection Question: How will you actively give your 2024 goals to God?
