“The Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri ... he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs ... to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts.” Exodus 35:30-33 NIV
God had given Bezalel special abilities. These were not just part of his personality or interests, but gifts from God the result of being filled with His Spirit. In fact, He had given Bezalel skill and ability to know how to do the work he was called to do. This was the by-product of the Spirit’s presence.
In particular, he was not just a builder, passively executing ideas he was given. He also was a designer. The Hebrew words tell us that Bezalel didn’t just approach his work mechanically. He was a thinker. He developed plans, with designs that could be creative and ingenious.
The same Spirit can empower us in many other ways. He can help us to be creative and approach any task skillfully. To do the extraordinary and the ingenious. He can give us the knowledge and skills we need, even if they don’t come naturally.
These are reasons why we need to depend on God’s Spirit. To be sensitive to His leading. To trust Him to empower us, on our jobs, in our homes, our communities, and churches. To be His servants. To look to Him to give us the ability to go beyond our human limits and be a testimony to His power at work in us.
In your life, be ready to follow God’s leading. To be His servant don’t resist, but trust Him to enable you to do the things He calls you to do. Remember, you are not on your own. Learn to depend on the Spirit. Seek His power and wisdom, His anointing and direction. Don’t be content with the mediocre, but trust Him to give you great ideas. To do things that bring Him glory.
PrayerFather, I am Your servant. I seek Your anointing and abilities for the work You have called me to do. Help me serve You with excellence. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Pray that God would give Inspiration Ministries’ programs creative excellence.
