Remember

The Bible is filled with reminders – altars where agreements were made and sign posts that commemorate important events. Triggers warn us and help us recall fundamental truths. Events remind us of God’s promises and keep us from forgetting.

God Himself provided the first sign: a rainbow, a reminder to Himself about His own covenant and promises.

While places and things often were important signs, God also used the calendar. We do this by honoring people through birthdays and anniversaries and remembering the people who have had an impact on our lives. In the same way, certain days are important to God and set aside to help His people to remember.

What are the important days in your life? Do you remember the day when you gave your heart to Jesus? Times when He spoke to You? When He answered prayers? When you experienced a miracle? When He opened a door that seemed closed? Allow these moments to remind you of God’s presence in your life.

Also remember the signs in His Word, the history of His people, His promises, and His faithfulness. Remember the truths that set us free, the principles that can change our lives, the wisdom that shows us what to do, and the warnings about the times in which we live.

Think about these important days and the people who have been influential in your life. Think about God’s promises and His faithfulness. And be thankful.
