Real Power

Many in the world approach the matter of faith as just a series of religious exercises without substance. Even many Believers focus on rituals and traditions. In fact, the Christian life can be reduced to rules and regulations, forms and appearances. As if life pictured in the Bible was for another time, another place.

But, in fact, the Bible presents a faith that is vital and vibrant, based on a real relationship with the living God! A faith that changes lives, with realpower to heal and save, to do the miraculous. Power to answer prayers and give life meaning!

This power was central to the life of Jesus who went about “healing all who were oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38). This same power was given to His followers when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 1:8). They witnessed countless displays of lives being transformed.

This was fact, not theory. Yet, along the way, some seemed to have become uncomfortable with this power. Instead, they focused on forms and appearances, even denying the power. To Paul, this problem was so serious that he warned against those who just hold “a form of godliness.”

It is easy to be critical. Yet how easily any of us can limit God. To reduce our faith to just a series of rules. To trying to look “religious.” As the Bible warns, this focus on form can spread doubt, and limit what we might expect. It deprives us of experiencing God’s full power, which is at the core of His character.

In your life, never deny the power of God or limit Him. If you have doubts, just confess His Word. Pray with faith, expecting Him to answer, no matter what you need. Remember: All things are possible for those who believe.
