Joy in Worship

Joy in Worship

Some think worship should be solemn – a ritual, an obligation. But the Bible confirms that God has a different perspective. Worship should be filled with joy! Within just a few sentences, Moses repeated the importance of joy three times to the Israelites. He instructed them to rejoice before the Lord and to be joyful at the feast. And He wanted them to obey Him, so their joy would be complete. He commanded them to be joyful!

That same spirit of joy should be part of our contemporary worship. Worship is an opportunity to praise God! We need to remember all He has done, celebrate His faithfulness, and declare His victory! But we cannot enter joyful worship unless we have an intimate relationship with Him. We should look for a reason to celebrate.

The Bible tells us that as we enter His presence, we can experience the fullness of joy. We will realize that He blesses us so that we might rejoice before Him. We should serve Him joyfully so that we might share this joy with others.

Right now, instead of thinking about your needs and problems, focus on God. Take your mind off the situations you face and think about Him. Then start praising Him. Worship Him! Thank Him! Allow His joy to fill your heart. He promises that He wants to make your joy complete.
