God’s Greatness and Glory

After laying out plans for the temple, David led the people in praise. This was a moment to reflect about the many ways God had blessed him.

It would have been easy take His blessings for granted, as others had. But, in that moment, David was overwhelmed when he thought of God’s goodness, and amazed at the bounty of His blessings.

He became conscious of how insignificant he was, compared with God. David would say, “Who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you have already given us!”

David also realized that God wasn’t interested in token appreciation. He was concerned about our hearts. Not superficial things but our relationship with Him.

David’s leadership made a strong impact, as “the entire assembly praised the Lord.” They joined together in genuine worship, bowing before Him in humble adoration.

Each of us needs moments like these in our lives. Times to reflect. To think about all we owe to God. How easily we can forget about Him and become busy and distracted. How easily we can take Him for granted. But David gave us the right perspective, an attitude we should imitate.

Today, think about all that God has given you! Think about His protection. His provisions. His forgiveness. Eternal life! Thank Him. Praise Him. Commit your life to Him. Humble yourself before Him in a spirit of adoration and worship. For He is worthy of all praise!
