God’s Character

God’s Character

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

What is God really like? While “no one has seen God at any time” (John 1:18), Jesus came to show us what He really is like.

Hebrews explains that Jesus is the “exact representation” of the Father’s nature. The Greek word here is the source of the English word character, used here for the only time in the Bible. Thus, when we read about Jesus, we know exactly what God’s character is like.

This is why the Christian life begins with Jesus, and why Hebrews spends so much time telling us why Jesus is so different. It’s why our relationship with Him is so critical.

The more intimately we know Jesus, the more clearly we know and understand God the Father. His Word comes alive more, and we grasp His wisdom more. Our eyes open more to the depths of His plans. We receive more of His peace and grasp our personal destiny.

Today, seek to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Immerse your life in God’s Word, for Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-4). Like His disciples, leave everything behind to follow Him. Seek to obey Him in every area. Talk with Him throughout the day. Listen to Him. Learn to walk in the Spirit. Commit your problems and decisions to Him. Seek His direction.

When you do these things, not only will you draw closer to Him, but you will also understand more about God.
