Freed from Sin

Sin can have a devastating hold on our lives. It weighs us down and blocks the flow of God’s blessings. Sin provides a crippling distraction that can trap us into harmful habits. And it can seem impossible to escape its grip.

But God provided a way for His people to be free. This required an offering. A sacrifice. It had to be an animal without any defects. We can imagine that some might have thought that they didn’t need to make this kind of offering. That they were “good” enough. That these principles only applied to serious offenders.

But God stressed that everyone needed these offerings. Men and women. Young and old. Priests and leaders. Whether a person sinned intentionally or unintentionally. If the sin was big or small.

These same principles remain true. Many people don’t seem to worry about sin. They feel that they are “good enough” and do “good” deeds. But the Bible reminds us that no one is “good enough.” That “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That we all are “slaves of sin” and need salvation.

But we can be free by accepting the finished work of Jesus, the Lamb of God who died for our sins. He took the place of that bull that had no defects, and become our sin offering (1 Peter 1:18-19).

This salvation is available to anyone. This truly is Good News. For each of us and the world. We can show our gratitude by offering our lives as living sacrifices before God. By making Jesus our Lord. By dedicating ourselves to follow Him.
