For Such a Time as This

All the Jews in Persia were to be killed. The order had been approved by Esther’s husband, the king. Even though she was Persia’s queen, she didn’t know if she could do anything. But her cousin, Mordecai, recognized that God uniquely had prepared her for this crisis. He asked her to consider whether she had “come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

After a time of fasting, Esther approached the king, and inaugurated a series of events that saved her people. She hadn’t been sure she could make a difference but was willing to step out in faith, and seize the moment.

There are many reasons why each of us can feel incapable of making a difference. The challenges may seem too big. Our resources might seem too small. Success might seem unlikely. We might be afraid or intimidated.

But the fact is that God has a plan for our lives. He has uniquely prepared each of us to accomplish something special for His Kingdom.

Today, realize that God has called you for “such a time as this.”  It is no accident that you are where you are, doing what you are doing. In special ways, God has uniquely prepared you to accomplish certain tasks for His Kingdom. These are moments to trust God, to be sensitive to His leading, and to move forward with faith.

As you face these opportunities, don’t doubt, or be discouraged or afraid. Trust God. Be confident that He has called you for such a time as this. As you move forward by faith, you can be confident that He will bless your efforts.
