Flourishing

The Bible makes clear that God wants to bless us. More than that, He wants us to thrive. In fact, the Bible promises that the righteous will “flourish.” This Hebrew word is used to describe vines that bud and blossom, open in the springtime, and bear fruit. These seeds are fulfilling their destiny, growing into mature plants, and fulfilling the designs of their Creator.

How does this flourishing take place in believers? It comes to those who are “righteous.” It comes to people whose desire is to serve God and obey His Word, to those who seek first His Kingdom and declare that Jesus is their Lord and seek to follow Him. These people will “flourish like the green leaf” bearing fruit at just the right time.

But these blessings do not come to those who trust in their riches, think about themselves, or hoard their possessions. In fact, the Bible promises, “He who trusts in his riches will fall.”

Instead, God promises blessings to those who realize they have been blessed to bless others and are generous and sow seeds with the resources they have been given. Remember, God wants you to flourish and thrive in every area of your life. Make sure that you seek first His Kingdom and that you are committed to serving Him. Know His Word. Make Jesus the Lord of your life. Trust Him. Be confident that He desires to help you flourish.
