Firsthand Insights

As the Israelites began to conquer the Promised Land, Joshua directed each tribe to survey the land and write a description of it.While knowing that each tribe had been allotted a specific territory, Joshua also realized that knowing about this territory was not enough. His direction to write a description forced each tribe to exam-ine the land and conduct firsthand research. By writing everything down, he was encouraging them to think through every detail, develop a plan, and take action.

These descriptions became the basis for a report for Joshua. This also was part of building a community, as each tribe shared what they observed with others.

These are principles we see in action in our spiritual lives. How many people know about God’s promises and have read His Word. Yet they have failed to experience the fullness of His blessings. Like the ancient Israelites, we need to make God’s promises real in our lives. Not just to read His Word but to believe it, and put into action.

Not just depending on the opinions of others but studying the Bible for ourselves. Praying and seeking God for His insights, always applying His principles, moving forward in faith.

In your life, ask God to give you insights into His Word. Ask His Spirit to guide you. Seek His direction, and how He wanted you to use the gifts and talents He has given you.

Don’t give in to doubt or question if God’s promises are true. Move forward in faith. Boldly believe that His Word is true, and that He really wants to fulfill every promise for you.
