Dry Bones

It was a dark time for God’s people. Many had been exiled and felt hopeless. The Temple had been destroyed, and its treasures taken. Then, God gave Ezekiel a startling vision. His Spirit brought him to a valley full of dry bones. A place where there was no life.

In this vision, God told Ezekiel that these bones would be re-formed. That He would “make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin.” Then, God breathed on these bodies and they “came to life and stood on their feet.” Moreover, they became “an exceedingly great army.”

God explained that “these bones are the whole house of Israel.” That He would cause His people to “come up out of your graves” and “come to life.” And He would place them “on your own land.”

For centuries, these prophecies remained a mystery. Surely, many asked, would God actually bring His people “into the land of Israel” again? This seemed to be impossible. Yet, within the twentieth century, this is exactly what took place. The world watched with amazement as Jews came from across the globe and were united in the land of Israel. Yes, God’s Word was true.

Just as these dry bones have come back to life, we can be sure that all of the Bible’s prophecies for Israel will be fulfilled. People in the world may doubt God’s Word, have their own interpretations, or pursue their own goals. But we can be sure that God will keep His promises. All of them. He will accomplish His purposes. And He will bless those who bless His people.
