Specific Direction

Some think that faith in God is only important for purely spiritual issues. That they can go to church, but then live any way they want.

Yet the Bible makes clear that God is interested in every part of our lives. That He can help us in any matter, at any time. In fact, He knows everything about everything. Finance and interpersonal relationships. And even business and military strategy.

We see this truth in the advice He gave His people regarding Egypt. The description Jeremiah provided is amazingly detailed. In fact, He knew everything about the history of this relationship. All that Egypt had done to them. All the responses and results. And the specifics of their situation.

Then, He gave them absolutely specific strategies to employ. They were to “line up the shield and buckler, and draw near for the battle! Harness the horses, and mount the steeds, and take your stand with helmets on! Polish the spears, put on the scale-armor!”

Did God only give this kind of specific direction for His people in ancient times? Many might think so. But He is the same today as when His people faced the Egyptian army.

What can you do to get this kind of specific direction? First, be sure to base your life on His Word. That you apply His principles in everything you do. That you always stay sensitive to His Spirit. Then commit your specific needs to Him. Cry out to Him for the wisdom and direction you need.

Trust in Him with your whole heart and don’t lean on your understanding.  Be confident that He will direct your path.
