God’s Sure Word

On this day in 334 B.C., Greek forces under Alexander the Great confronted a mighty Persian army under the direction of King Darius III. They met along the Granicus River in present day Turkey. In this clash of empires, the Greeks were outnumbered by more than 10 to 1. Yet Alexander employed a brilliant strategy and won a victory that made him master of a huge empire.

Years earlier, God actually gave Daniel a vision about these very events. The prophecies were so precise that some skeptical scholars believe that Daniel’s account must have been after the events themselves. But these skeptics fail to understand that we serve a God who is beyond time. Who knows every detail about the future. As He told Isaiah, He declares “the end from the beginning” (Isaiah 46:10).

The Bible confirms this fact: That God knows everything about everything (and everyone). He is not limited by time or space. For Him, it is nothing to speak about events far into the future. Our human minds cannot comprehend this ability, but that is the nature of the God we serve.

Today, remember that God can do anything. As the Bible reminds us, with Him nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). We are urged to bring Him any need we face. To ask Him boldly. But also to remember to ask in faith believing “that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Remember. God knows the future for every nation. Every ruler. Every business. Every person. You can trust Him, now and in the future.
