Apply What You Know

Apply What You Know

Paul knew it was essential to remind the Corinthians of what they had been taught. To make this point, he repeated the Greek phrase translated do you not know six separate times in this chapter.

Clearly, there was a gap between what these Corinthians should have known and what they were doing. They had many problems and questions, but in the essential matters God already had provided the wisdom they needed. They simply needed to apply these truths.

In similar ways, we too may need reminders. We may be experiencing problems because we’re not acting according to the truths God has revealed to us. We might be facing defeat because we are not applying the principles in His Word.

God has provided us with the keys to success and victorious living through His Word. However, if we know what to do but refuse to do it, we can expect a myriad of problems. We will forfeit God’s fullest blessings in our life.

The Bible reminds us that God wants to set us free and bless us abundantly. But receiving these blessings requires that we align our lives with the Lord, knowing and obeying His Word. This means putting into action the principles we already know to be true. The Bible even tells us that it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it (James 4:17 NLT)

Today, remind yourself of the truths in God’s Word. Then don’t forget to apply them!
