A Sanctuary

By definition, a conspiracy is an action by a group of people who join forces to influence events in their favor. These plans usually are made in secret and often disguised by deception. Some conspiracies have been proven to be true. But others largely consist of rumors and speculation.

There are many ways conspiracies are formed. They can take place in the business world as powerful companies act behind closes doors, cutting deals, and forming secret alliances. We see them unfolding in national and international politics. But conspiracies also might take place in our personal relationships, our neighborhoods, among friends, and even in churches.

Some people find themselves perpetually worried about conspiracies. Others feel compelled to look for conspiracies, in the process often discovering that this focus can make them feel insecure or afraid.

But the Bible urges us to look at life another way. Instead of focusing on other people or organizations, we are taught to focus on God! If He is the center of our lives, He promises to be a sanctuary for us. He will be our rock in every situation. He also will protect us, and cause others to “stumble,” to “fall and be broken … snared and caught.”

Today, make sure that you are focusing on God. Place your faith in Him. Trust in Him. Fill your mind and heart with His Word. And declare His promises to be true for you. Worship Him. Then declare His power and protection in your life.

He will be your sanctuary, and protect you against every adversary.
