The Power of Encouragement

The Power of Encouragement

“Encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called ‘Today.’”
– Hebrews 3:13

I love this quote from Zig Ziglar: “A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could.”

Isn’t that true? I remember once in my ministry when I became terribly discouraged. I had run into a brick wall and couldn’t figure out a way to get over, around, under, or through it.

My wife and I were on vacation, and she awakened in the middle of the night to notice me sitting up in the bed, thinking, praying.

She said, “What’s wrong?”

I replied, “I give up. I just can’t keep going. I’m exhausted.”

She held my hand, looked me in the eyes, and simply said, “Please know I believe in you.”

Suddenly, I decided to keep going forward. A steely resolve once again entered my heart. I recommitted to my ministry.

That was almost 20 years ago. If my ministry has touched anyone since then, you can simply thank my wife who encouraged me.

Is there someone you can encourage in a similar way today? If so, don’t delay. Go and do it!
