Do You Hear Him

Listen … Do You Hear Him?

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1: 19 NLT)

Early morning dawns, my sleepy eyes slowly open and adjust to sunlight peeking through the window blinds. Yawning and stretching, I prepare to rise from the comfortable bed.

Before my feet touch the floor, I pause. I am still and calm. I listen for Him. “Good morning, dear Lord. Thank You for this glorious day.” Sometimes I speak aloud and other times the words are spoken in my thoughts.

He welcomes me to conversation. A blessed way to start the day, praising and thanking Him for the blessings He provides.

“Thank You for sleep, a comfortable bed, a loving family – and thank You for loving me. You, Lord, are my rock. You comfort me and give me strength.”

I share my thoughts,

knowing He is hearing every word.

God has plans for me this day and every day. I pray I will pause and listen for His direction instead of following my own way. When things don’t go as planned and my feelings are hurt, I will remember the comfort He gives.

The day continues with opportunities to share His love and forgiveness with others. Will I remember the morning conversation with Him? Or will life become so busy with errands, appointments, meetings, preparing meals, work, family time, and more that I forget the calmness of the precious moments shared with Him in the morning?

In busy times, stress can cause tiredness and grouchiness may arise. I must remember James 1:19 and follow His directions.

I pause and again I listen for Him. A tired body and mind will not cause me to forget His Words.

I will listen to my family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. I will be slow to speak. If I don’t agree with the opinion of another person, I won’t get angry. I will listen as He listens to me.

Day has come and gone. Preparing for another night of sleep, I thank Him. I pause and listen. Yes, I hear Him.

Do you hear Him? He is waiting for conversation with you. Thank Him. Praise Him. Give Him your burdens. He is listening. Anytime, night or day, He is waiting with open arms to listen to you.

Yes, He loves you.
