Thanksgiving: Why I’m Giving God Thanks Today!

David CerulloBy David Cerullo2 Minutes

At the first Thanksgiving, weary pilgrims were thankful for their lives and a bit of food to eat. These were brave adventurers who had crossed the sea with very few possessions. Blown off course, they were forced to endure freezing winters, disease, and the loss of loved ones.

But they were still thankful for God’s faithfulness.

During times of feasting and favor, when life is moving along smoothly and everyone is safe and healthy, we enjoy God’s presence and peace. It’s easy to give God thanks. If this is you today, we rejoice with you!

However, if you’re not experiencing a season of feasting and favor and your prayers feel like they’re hitting the ceiling and bouncing right back, I am praying for victory and breakthrough in your life.

When Paul talks about prayer in Colossians 4:2, he says to “… be vigilant in it with thanksgiving.”

That means “pray and don’t stop praying – and while you pray, give God thanks!”

Remember, as you obey God’s Word and are vigilant in prayer and thanksgiving, God is working behind the scenes to produce unspeakable glory. Thank Him for His blessings, give Him your cares and sorrows, and let Him give you supernatural joy and peace.

This Thanksgiving, I am especially thanking God for you, and for your partnership with Inspiration Ministries as we work together to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

God bless you,
David Sig
