Fulfilling Your Life’s Purpose

Life is best lived on purpose. When you have a clear purpose in life, things seem less complicated. But when you’re not living on purpose, life becomes difficult and oppressive.

That’s why King Solomon wrote, If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what He reveals, they are most blessed” (Proverbs 29:18 MSG). So if you want to be “most blessed,” it’s important to fulfill what God shows you about your purpose.

In order to find God’s plan for your life, keep in mind these four important principles:

1. Find something you love to do. Your life’s purpose most likely will intersect with the activities that motivate you and bring you joy.
2. Do something bigger than you can imagine. This means finding a mission in life that is truly beyond yourself — something so grand that it will be a worthy investment of your time and energy.
3. See your uniqueness in fulfilling the role. Often the most satisfying roles are the ones only you can fulfill.
4. Make sure your work serves others. At the end of each week, can you truly say your work made the world a better place?

You can be confident today that God has a plan for your life, a divine calling, a path on which He wants to guide you. When you welcome Him into your heart and He becomes your life’s traveling companion, He will continually make His purposes known to you.

When you’re not absolutely sure where the Lord is leading you, keep taking steps forward with the information you have. With every new step, He will unfold more of His reasons for your life. There’s an important work for you to do — something no one else can accomplish!
