Be a Partaker

Be a Partaker

Imagine if you got a phone call from an attorney in your city, and he said, “We’ve got good news for you. A relative you’ve never met, you probably never even heard of, has died and left you a million dollars cash in their will.”  What would you do?

Well, if you knew it was legitimate, you would walk on broken glass if you had to in order to get that money, right? I mean, they would have to physically hold you back from going down to that attorney’s office to obtain your rightful inheritance.

Not only that, but if you were really smart, and I know you are, you would ask the attorney as you received the check, “Are there any more relatives I don’t know about that know about me?” In other words, “Should I expect more in the future?”

Read this amazing passage of Scripture in 2 Peter 1:4. The Bible says, “He has granted unto us His precious and magnificent promises.” Why? “So that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” Think about that. More than a million-dollar check, more than an inheritance from an uncle you never heard of, Jesus Christ said, “For those who are saved and born again, I have laid up all of my promises, all of My reward system, all of My benefits. And I have now given you the privilege of sharing in those benefits with me.”

Isn’t that amazing? The Bible calls you a “joint heir with Christ” (Romans 8:17), which means every benefit the Father gives Jesus, He gives to you as well. We’re partakers of the divine nature of Christ. We’re joint heirs for every blessing in Heaven and on earth. Hallelujah! I don’t know about you, but I believe that’s something to rejoice about!
