A True Reason for Fireworks

I just love celebrating the Fourth of July…

The smell of burgers sizzling on the grill. The sight of fireworks bursting in the night time sky. To me, there’s no better time of year, and yet, I think most of us forget about the true significance of this amazing holiday.

Samuel Adams, a leader in the American Revolution, once said that signing the Declaration of Independence meant no longer serving a king in England, but rather, serving our Almighty God and Creator. Because of it, we no longer have to submit to the power of man but can pursue Christ with our whole heart. Hallelujah! What an incredible day in history this was!

It is such a blessing that we have the freedom to serve Christ and Him alone. Often, however, the enemy will try to keep us from understanding the full meaning of this liberty, using distractions and lies to make us lose sight of who we are in Him.

The devil wants to rob us of our inheritance, but, praise God, we don’t have to listen to his lies. Because of what Christ did on the cross, we have the freedom to choose His life over our sin and to boldly declare our faith to others.

As you spend this day with family and friends, I encourage you to celebrate the incredible freedom that was given to you by Jesus. Take time to reflect on the ways God has blessed you in your life, and praise Him every moment for the liberation of your heart and soul through the power of the Cross.

God bless you,
