Whether the mountain in front of you is physical, legal, spiritual, financial, or marital, here’s how you can find victory!
Through God’s Word and many personal experiences, I’ve discovered four ways to live the life of an overcomer.
Start a habit of reading the Bible every day
Begin with a commitment to read the Bible for seven consecutive days. And I encourage you to try reading it out loud. There’s something powerful about declaring God’s Word over your life every day. You’ll experience a divine transformation when you regularly hear yourself declaring the promises of God.
Turn your warfare into worship
Give God praise that He’s the God of turnarounds. Psalm 30:5 says, “His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” When you’re tempted to say, “I can’t do this anymore,” remember how Joseph was thrown into a pit and later falsely imprisoned for attempted rape. It took a while for his breakthrough to come, just as it often does for us. Yet Joseph woke up in jail for breakfast one morning and by dinnertime was the Vice President of Egypt!
Ignore the things that don’t really matter
Are you focusing on the right things today? King David wrote about the great joy he found in God’s presence: “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). When attacked by a lion, Samson killed it and tossed it in the woods. He continued on his journey without giving it another thought. Later, when Samson was hungry, he found the same lion and with great pleasure ate honey from its carcass. What a great lesson: If you’ll start ignoring the things that don’t matter, one day God will let you reach into the very thing that came to kill you — and you’ll discover something sweet inside!
Change your future with a step of faith
Between Sowing and Reaping, there is always waiting. Think of a situation where a friend says to you, “Wait right here, and I’ll be back in 10 minutes to pick you up.” If 20 minutes go by and they’re not there, you won’t leave if you trust them. Waiting is the proof of trust — and this is a key ingredient in the process of sowing and reaping.
You see, when you ask God for a breakthrough, He usually will ask you for a step of faith. But don’t be surprised if you must patiently wait for the breakthrough to come.
What battle are you facing today? Is it the call from your doctor that changed everything, or the job loss that forced you to scrape the bottom of the barrel? Is it the addiction you desperately want freedom from, but you don’t know where to start? Or do you face a crisis in your marriage or with your children?
We each face mountains and obstacles along the way. Either we will overcome the problem, or the problem will eventually overcome us.
Whatever difficult situation you are facing, the Bible says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
These four keys will lead you to your overcoming life!
