Hello precious friends.
Here in the summer heat and humidity of the Carolinas, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of rainfall in bringing about healthy lawns and flowers. The grass and plants are so thirsty for cool water to refresh them during this hot time of year, and I can relate!
Perhaps you’re feeling like this right now in your relationship with the Lord – thirsty to drink more deeply from His presence and His Word.
I love how the psalmist describes his thirst for God in Psalm 42:1-2:
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?”
And in Isaiah 55:1, God gives this wonderful invitation:
Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters.
To find the spiritual refreshment we need, we must come to the Lord in quiet times of rest, prayer, and worship to drink deeply of Him.
So let me ask: Are you spending time with Jesus, freely drinking the thirst-quenching living water He offers you?
I encourage you today, no matter how busy you are…no matter how tired you are…no matter how painful and upsetting your present circumstances may be…go to Him and drink deeply from His Word. Let His Holy Spirit refresh and restore your weary soul.
When you do this, God promises to pour out showers of blessing to refresh you (Acts 3:19 MSG). Despite all the soft drink commercials, the Lord is the only real thirst quencher. He promises you’ll find great joy in His presence (Psalm 16:11).
Quenching Others’ Thirst
Your thirst for God’s presence can ignite an amazing season of blessings in your life…but that’s not all. In addition to providing you with personal blessings, God will make you a blessing to others (Genesis 12:2).
Jesus promises, If anyone thirsts, let Him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water (John 7:37-38). Not only is He the source of living water when you thirst for Him, but He also wants this stream of blessing to flow out from you to others who are in need.
Dave and I hear from many of our Inspiration Partners who are concerned about their children and grandchildren. The good news is that the Lord cares about your loved ones, and He wants living water to flow from your life to touch them with His kindness and power.
I’m convinced the lives of your children, grandchildren, and other loved ones can be transformed through your intercession. By continuously praying the Word of God over those you love, you’re pouring out living water on their circumstances and thirsty souls.
The Bible teaches us, Death and life are in the power of the tongue… (Proverbs 18:21). By praying the Word over your family, you’re praying life over them and protecting them from any schemes of the enemy that could negatively affect them.
Dave and I pray for you, our Inspiration Partners, every day. In the same way, I encourage you to pray and believe God’s Word for your friends and loved ones. Pray, watch, and wait for the Lord to bring about His destiny for their lives. You will not be disappointed.
Let me leave you with a powerful promise from God: I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring (Isaiah 44:3).
Believe God’s Word, dear friend!
