When Mary Magdalene, Salome, and Mary, the mother of James, set out for Jesus’ tomb three days after He was interred, the three women wondered aloud how they would move the boulder blocking the tomb’s entrance. Imagine their surprise when they arrived and the large stone had already been moved out of the way. Inside was an angel who told them of Jesus’ resurrection.
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid His body. Now go and tell His disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there, just as He told you before He died” (Mark 16:5-7).
Before He was crucified, Jesus promised that He would return and go to Galilee. The angel’s words to the three women are proof of Jesus’ fulfillment of that promise.
Just as Jesus kept His promise to the three women, He will keep His promise to you: “However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them” (John 6:37).
On this Resurrection Sunday, I pray that you will go forward with the knowledge that the Lord Jesus Christ will always be there for you, just as He promised.
